Libyan Youth Minister Meets Counterparts Ahead of Sahel-Saharan States Youth Ministers Meeting
Libyan Youth Minister Fatahallah Alzunni met with Niger’s Minister of Youth, Culture, Arts and Sports Amadou Abdulrahman and Sudanese Minister of Youth and Sports Hazar Al-Amin ahead of the 4th Meeting of Youth and Sports Ministers of the Sahel-Saharan States, to be held in Tripoli on April 23rd, 2024.
On April 21st and 22nd, experts from Sahel-Saharan countries are meeting in Tripoli to prepare for the ministerial meeting hosted by Libya’s Government of National Unity.
During Alzunni’s meeting with Abdulrahman, they discussed the situations in the African Sahel region, developments in Niger, and the importance of cooperation between the two countries to support and empower youth through capacity-building programs under the Sahel-Saharan group.
Alzunni stated that Libya has worked to strengthen the African youth movement, promote solidarity, and confront dangers facing youth like irregular migration, terrorism and extremism. Libya is therefore hosting these meetings through a national plan to build mutual cooperation capabilities and enhance youth participation in decision-making.
Minister Al-Amin was received at Mitiga Airport by Libyan officials, where she offered condolences to victims’ families in Derna and the Green Mountain in Libya. She praised Libya’s efforts to host the conference to develop the youth and sports sectors regionally.
In receiving Abdulrahman at the airport, Alzunni was joined by the Niger ambassador and indicated Libya’s desire to pursue new cooperation with Sahel-Saharan countries, activate joint youth programs like the exchange program, and build youth leadership capacities to achieve sustainable development goals.
